Custom Database Searches
Our specialty is searching the various databases for reports of aviation mishaps and mechanical difficulties. We not only have versions of
these databases not generally available to the public - many are “out of print” or have been created in-house - but we have the experience to avoid gathering misleading results.
We’ll work with you to identify your needs and the most appropriate sources.
We try not to oversell our clients, and there’s never a charge for anything you don’t find useful.
- Civil Aircraft Accident/Incident Reports - we often suggest these as a good place to start with a new case. Reviewing mishaps with similar circumstances often provides insight to alternative causal information or details of defects. These custom searches are priced at $245, and normally include multiple searches of at least two databases. - Service Difficulty Reports - with well over one million records, this is the granddaddy of the databases. Most useful when you want to home in on a particular system or component. Searchable by airframe/engine/propeller make/model, ATA system code, part number and many other fields. $245
- Miscellaneous other sources - Military, Special Airworthiness Information Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Type Certificate Data Sheets and many other sources both electronic and print. Starting at $95.
- Damage History Searches - Specific Aircraft - these are
searches to find all damage reported on a specific aircraft and are typically performed in conjunction with an aircraft title search at the time of purchase. See our frequently asked questions page for more information and a list of our title search company retailers.
Other Services
While our specialty custom database searches limit the amount of time we can devote to large projects, we enjoy the change of focus and try to fit
them whenever possible. Here’s some samples of past projects we have been involved in:
- Wreckage examinations and teardowns - with thirty-five years of general aviation experience we know what things should look like. Agricultural aircraft and external load helicopter operations are a specialty
- Witness interviews, especially in the South and Central Texas area.
- Speciality Database Integration Projects - Clients also frequently request that we obtain, review and integrate various specialty databases.
- Flight test programs
- Selection of experts in other technical areas.
- Expert Testimony - signed letter of engagement required in advance.
A few words about exclusivity - On a few occassions we have learned after the fact that we have worked for more than one party to litigation.
Often these requests have been years apart or may have involved related suits with different styles.
However, our policy is always to avoid disclosing any prior work we have done on any other case. We rely on our clients who desire exclusivity to provide a letter of engagement and identify all opposing parties.
